The Hinase area of Bizen City is famous for its thriving fishing industry with oyster farming and bottom trawling and has been dubbed as the “Hinase Sengen Ryoshimachi”(a town of thousand fisheries) since its old days.
The Setonaikai (the Seto Inland Sea) is an inland sea and is a rich habitat for fish and other ocean species because nutrients keep flowing in from the mainland mountains through the rivers.
Bottom trawling is a simple fishing method where you take a boat offshore, drop a net (a trawl) in an area where the abundant catch swims, and pull it up.
It enables you to catch various kinds of fish in one trawl.
You can actually experience this longstanding fishing method in the Trawling Fishing Experience Tour.
While enjoying the spectacular views of the sea and the islands in Hinase, you can touch and see the abundant fish and other sea species that they catch.
Fishermen and the accompanying staff will perform the work of lowering and pulling up the net.
After returning from the fishing tour, the fish will be cooked and you will be able to feast it at the harbor and surrounding facilities.
